Written by We had a very successful attendance at the Structures in Fire conference in Coimbra, Portugal. Mark Green and John Gales successfully bid for the next SIF conference to be held in Canada. The conference will be held at Dr. Gales’ alma mater Queen’s University (Kingston, Ontario) with some events also planned in Toronto. We will update these events soon! Further, our team (Katie, Ethan and group friend Austin) built and presented three high quality presentations at the conference (one on each of steel, concrete and wood):
- Experimental and Numerical Response of Steel Trusses Exposed to a Localized Fire;
- Post-Fire Structural Performance of Corroded Concrete Beams; and
- Towards Alternative Fire Design Solutions for Canadian Wood-to-Wood Connections.
Most importantly we managed to catch up with many colleagues for the first time since the COVID shut down to discuss future research collaborations and insight into current research underway.
